Jamaica 50 Celebration ~ STARLIGHT!
August 6, 2012
Kalasataman Konttiaukio, Suvilahti
6pm - 2am
FREE entrance!
Jamaica is a country that is blessed with an abundance of goodness – Jamaican people are strong, colourful, bold and proud. It's amazing how a small island of less than 3 million people is known worldwide for its music, nature, food, dance, athletes.. and swag! 50 years ago Jamaica gained independence after nearly 500 years of foreign rule. Early years of independence have been both good and bad in some ways, but this is a day to celebrate the freedom and everything good that comes with it, in a Jamaican spirit of love & respect.
In Finland we have a small but growing number of Jamaicans, and likewise a growing number of Finnish people that fall in love with the island and visit there regularly. Even larger is the number of people that just love Jamaican culture, be it music, dance or sports. Welcome all Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica to celebrate Jamaica with good food, loud music, beautiful people in all size, age and color, tasty drinks and party vibes under the starlit sky.. ting called street dance yard style!
Konttiaukio is located in Kalasatama, walking distance from the metro station.
